Self-exercising dog?

The first thing you need to know is that I am useless at taking video.

The second thing you need to know is that Millie is fast, blisteringly fast, and when this was taken she was already tired and going slowly . . .

If, like me, you get motion sickness really easily, you might not enjoy this.

  1. Absolutely brilliant, and quite funny too - definitely a self-exercising dog there. I wonder what was going through her mind when she was running round? - she certainly looks like she's enjoying herself anyway. Looks like you've got some fun times ahead :)

    1. Eunice, the unfettered JOY when this little dog does her "race horse impersonations" is the best tonic in the world. It is impossible to watch her without smiling - really does gladden the heart.

Sadly, she was not able to do this whilst in kennels so I think she's making up for lost time. xx

    1. Hi, I'm guessing this is from Pauline . . . I knew you'd like it!!
There will be many more in future, you will eventually get sick of Millie Movies!

    1. Thanks Sue, what I really want is to get a movie of her doing this sprint on the Cottage Garden lawn - it is impossible to watch without grinning! (That's Millie grinning as well as us. xx)

  4. She's a hound and they do run fast. The upside is she'll then sleep for 23 hours :)

She looks like she has some Saluki in her, my brother-in-law has one and she's gorgeous too. One thing to say about Salukis is you'll end up being the staff living in her house xx

    1. No change there then Eileen - as you know I was Daisy's personal maid, chauffeur, housekeeper and anything else she needed. Why should Millie get any different treatment :-)

Everyone seems to agree about the possibility of part-Saluki, we'll get a DNA test done when I can trust her not to try to eat the sampling wand . . .

  5. Oh my dear Jayne, I'm soooooo happy for you. Millie looks to run circles around Bag End, most of the countryside, and rings around your heart. Bag End has been resuscitated. I can practically hear the heartbeat (and thundering paws) all the way over here. Happy happy Joy joy. Kris

    1. Thank you Kris, always so lovely to hear from you.

She has gone round my heart as fast as she goes around the lawn . . . with all the lunacy in the world at present we need joy where we can get it.

    1. Thanks Mrs. I was thinking yesterday I have grinned more in the last three days than since . . . when I wasn't grinning.

  7. Bless her. Lottie (whippet) used to do laps of our garden like that when she was younger. Jumped over a 4ft fence too so I hope your garden is secure. She looks so happy you can't help but smile!

    1. I remember your darling Lottie, it is why I fell in love with your blog all those years ago. I hope you start blogging again one day. xx

    2. Probably not, but I'm on Instagram. Lottie's still here, nearly 14 now. A bit slow and vague, but still happy :)

    3. Oh I am so glad to hear Lottie is still with you - I did wonder, knowing she would be an old lady by now, but was hesitant to ask.

I very, very occasionally look at IG, would love to pop over. If you don't want to share your user name publicly, could you please use the "Want to get in touch" gadget over on the right?

    4. It's @serendipity_patch. I ought to put more pics of her on there, but all she does is sleep on the sofa or sunbathe :)

    5. Thanks, just off to cut grass (that is, the grass which is still connected to the soil and not been ripped up by rampaging hound!) and will have a look at IG later.

As for sleeping an sunbathing - what a life πŸΎπŸ•

    1. I am looking forward to the day when she is trained enough and trusted enough that it will safe to let her do this on a beach.

  9. Dear Jayne
I couldn't stop smiling to see Millie enjoying herself so much, racing in circles around her new environs. She looks so happy. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear she has some whippet/greyhound in her background!
    Best wishes
    Ellie

    1. Thanks Ellie, she is not big enough to be part greyhound (thank goodness, she's quite big enough as she is!) Definitely whippet though.
