The ironing is piling up

Finished with all the pale pink strips.  At present I think I might cut them into triangles but no decisions until I have sewn an awful lot more scraps.  It has taken many years to amass this many offcuts, it will take quite some time to make them into something.

All the 4" wide strips from the Worn & Washed rolls are now long strips.

I think they might get teamed with a floral and become another Picnic Blanket in the style of the blue one I made last year . . .

I want/need to do something with the plaids (top right in the bundle photo).

The strips are 5" wide and I'm cogitating teaming them with this Liberty floral which is an odd combination - which might be exactly why it might work.  Jury is out, need to leave the fabric laying around for a few days to see if the idea 'takes'.

  1. You do seem to be achieving so much at the moment & I like plaid with florals. I pondered them many years ago whilst sitting listening to someone rabbit on at a seminar in a local quilt shop. When it finished I pulled the said plaid & floral, which they all laughed at & said it wouldn't work. Being me I bought it and made a quilt & it did work. I'll email a photo. Do what makes you HAPPY & have fun playing. Look forward to seeing what they all become. Take care & huggles.

    1. Look forward to seeing that Susan, thanks.

I only appear to be achieving so much because I am not doing anything else, particularly no housework!

  2. Ahhhhhh, this is the ironing you are talking about!!!!

I thought you meant ironing of clothes and etc.

I do not iron a bit, except a nice shirt for my husband to wear to his Rotary Lunch. And it is wonnnnnnnderful!!!!!

Although that probably shocks some people. -giggle-

    1. I do not iron clothes unless I can avoid it! For many years I did all M.'s ironing - whilst he was working that was fair but five crisp cotton business shirts every week, plus all his casual clothes, was not fun. Now he is retired, if he wants something ironed he does it himself.

  4. I too thought ironing piling up would be clothes while you do other things :) I like the plaids and floral, very pretty.

    1. Thanks Eileen, but for the first time in nearly 30 years I no longer care about the ironing basket. Hardly any of my clothes need pressing and M. is more than capable of doing his own :-)

  5. I'm another one who thought the ironing piling up was general stuff :) I hate ironing with a vengeance and will only do the occasional thing if it really needs it. Many years ago, when I was with my hubby, he always said that he knew when we were going on holiday as that's when the ironing board came out! lol

    1. {{giggle}} But these days with your van/tent holidays, I bet your clothing choices are far more "easy care" !
