Before the Bank Holiday

Shaking head in disbelief but we suddenly seem to be getting "things done", you know, the sort of stuff which shouldn't be difficult, should not take forever, but never seems to get finished.

Firstly, the cold frames.  The little cleats I ordered arrived, and I promptly put them somewhere 'safe' ... when I found them again I had no excuse not to rig up the pulley system I have been promising myself.  It is working brilliantly :)

Caravan and campervan insurance companies are nervous beasts, and who can blame them?  The use of 'recreational vehicles' in this country is increasing year on year and with more caravans and motorhomes on the road, there are more toe-rags wanting to steal them.  The insurance companies give us a discount for fitting a security post, and we get a bit of peace of mind too.

Whilst Wayne was here various other holes got filled with concrete or tarmac, and Management & I had a rush of blood-sugar to the brain and filled the trailer with rubbish which has been sitting since October . . .  The trailer was empty and back home by 5.00pm :)

A spare bucket of mix meant I finally got a new support for the washing line, it is sad the little things which make me happy :(

Daisy was unimpressed by all of it.

So unimpressed that she had to keep going and having a little lie down!

  1. It’s always a good feeling when more jobs are ticked off your list, Daisy had the right idea.

    1. Thanks Marlene, I have this idea that one day, maybe, all the outstanding jobs will be completed.

The accusation of "delusional" has been made before . . .

    1. Cheers Kate. It's lovely to get stuff done, although we 'acquired' a new job when Wayne started chipping off some render on the corner of that wall - there was only a small crack when he began :-(

    1. You're right Sue, I just wish I could get to them before they become "LONG" outstanding!

  4. I love the unimpressed expression on Daisy's face :) I don't blame her for lying down, I think I'd rather do that myself than tackle all the unfinished things which need doing round here!

    1. Believe me Eunice, I would have preferred to be laying down as well. I had forgotten how disruptive it is having trades here, even if the guys are lovely and were outside all day.

  5. On the Friday before the Bank Holiday I was amazed to see how many caravans and campervans were on the A55 heading Anglesey way. You do right to have a security post fitted to your property. Good that you ticked off so many jobs from your list. Poor Daisy was exhausted :)

    1. Hi Eileen, you are right about the number of vans on the roads. The joy of being retired means we always stay at home on Bank Holidays!

Of course Daisy was tired, all that laying around pretending to supervise is quite exhausting :)

  6. It's a good feeling when you get on top of those 'little' jobs. The security post is a sensible idea. X

    1. Thanks Jules, I was a little concerned about the post but it wasn't too expensive, relatively easy to fit and hasn't (so far) got in the way of us going in and out normally.

  7. It's the little jobs that do get neglected, but well done to you both. I have heard of vans etc. being stolen over here, but they don't seem to need a post thingy on our insurance, although we do have a safety lock on the drawbar, so that is probably our security device. I'm so in love with your waist high cold frames. Take care.

    1. Thanks Susan. I would love it if you lived in a perfect land where nothing bad ever happened, but sadly I don't think that is the case :)

Have you shown K. the photos of my cold frames? The height is working REALLY well in respect of lifting things in and out.
