Weather update

It's a lovely day in The Shire and the view from Bag End towards Skiddaw is gorgeous:

  1. A lovely view and a great photo Jayne. We have snow here, woke up to it yesterday morning though it had almost gone again by noon - we had another light covering last night but it's not that much. Michael is coming back from Ireland tonight and was worried about the ferry being cancelled but I've checked for him and everything's fine - there would have to be a tsunami for the Ulysses to be cancelled, it's the biggest passenger/cargo ferry in the world :)

    1. Thanks Eunice, I hope Michael has a safe journey.

I watched the TV news at lunchtime and you would think the next Ice Age has commenced according to the hyperbole from some of the presenters. REAL snow, which sadly we don't have photos of, was driving from Ambleside to the Kirkstone Pass a couple of years back with snow banks that were higher than the car on both sides.

    2. I've just had a text from Michael, they had a lot of snow over there overnight so he's taken the precaution of getting an earlier than usual coach to Dublin in case there are any delays. It means he'll have a long wait for the ferry but at least he'll be there.

  2. That is a lovely view. Every thing grinds to a halt when we have snow in the UK :)

    1. Thanks Eileen, the problem is that we don't get enough snow, often enough.

Many years ago I lived at 2,000 metres above sea level in a ski resort where we had snow for seven months of the year. Roads and pavements were always completely clear and easy to walk/drive on.

  3. I might well need a view like that over the next few days as temps are soaring again into the 30's for us here in my part of the world. The weather has been up & down like a yo-yo with up to 37deg one day & the next week one down around 17deg & lashings of heavy rain in a few storms. It's crazy. Have a good week & take care.

    1. Hi Susan, perhaps you should look at the picture to cool you down when necessary! Your temperature variations are very strange, hope there are no flash floods near you with all the storms.
