New toy

After a hard few hours slaving over a keyboard (him) and some time in the garden (me) we finished off the day enjoying the last of the sun, sitting in the arbor with a bottle of something cold, and trying out a new toy.

Just a cheapie to see if we like it but I can safely say there's no way this is going in the back of a shed to be forgotten!  Tra la la - I have found a way to enjoy the wood burning stove 12 months of the year!  Well, not exactly the wood burner, but I now have an excuse/opportunity to light a fire any time I want :-}

Daisy was not so sure . . .

    1. Crazy, I spoke to a couple of friends yesterday (in other parts of the country) who were both freezing but I spent the day outside in shorts; never mind, we'll "pay" for this soon enough and be wet and cold for the rest of the summer :-{

  2. Is it just to keep you warm or can you cook on it too? Have a good weekend & take care.

    1. Hi Susan, there is a cooking grate, and as I type, Management is in town doing a few errands and is going to get a bag of charcoal. In truth I am no great fan of food cremated outside but I have no problem with him doing it!

  3. There is something comforting about sitting around a fire whether inside or out and a great excuse to toast marshmallows after a hard days work. X

  5. Love the look of your new toy, and it sounds like your weather is just as good as ours right now. I had a fab few days down on Anglesey - you'll love my garden pics - and the days have been just as good here since I got back. I'm returning to Anglesey tomorrow (Sunday) for ten days so I hope it continues to be nice - and I hope your aforementioned 'wet and cold for the rest of the summer' isn't a true prediction :)

    1. Hi Eunice, I guess you will be in Anglesey by now, hope the weather holds for you.

      Even if the rest of the summer is a disappointment, this last month has been amazing (I just need to remember that when it gets grey and miserable again!)

    1. Hawthorn, I am quite sure watching a real fire speaks to our deeper and older selves.

      As for Daisy, she has a habit of laying very close to the wood burning stove but it doesn't smell smokey like the fire pit. I'm OK if she wants to keep her distance, less risk of accidents.
