I'll grow 20cm high

Do these look like "neat, dwarf plants" to you?  Daisy was not in the mood to be a scale model, rolling on her back was far more fun.

I've cut right back on the number of tomato plants this year so I can put salad leaves in the front of the beds. The lettuce I've had growing so far really seem to like to shade the tomato gives. There has been a cull since this photo was taken.

That will teach me to buy cheap seeds in Wilko.

    1. It wouldn't have mattered outside, but space is limited in the greenhouse. I hate taking out plants which are growing so well, but sometimes gardening is hard :-)

  2. That's definitely more than 20cm and I never think of marigolds as half hardy annuals, as we grown them outside in our veg beds, but they do look lovely in your greenhouse. Take care.

    1. The only year I didn't plant marigolds in the greenhouse I had a dreadful infestation of white fly. The marigolds attract not just pollinators for the tomatoes, but hoverflies who love to eat the white fly.

  3. Love the marigolds with the tomatoes, so pretty but a little too big for what you want them for! Tomatoes are looking good Jayne, ours are full of fruit but being very slow to ripen in this chilly weather!

    1. Hi Jill, I guess it makes a change from the usual gardeners' complaint of things not growing enough :-) Our tomatoes are the same as yours - growing very slowly in this cold summer.

  4. We've grown Naughty Marietta in the past and she has never grown that big. She is living up to her name

    1. Thanks Sue, perhaps it's all the rotted pony poo and other goodies we add to the soil? I'll definitely grow this naughty girl again, they are lovely plants, just a little 'enthusiastic'!
