Surf's Up

First, the wonderful news.  The missing Border Collie, Jasper, was found at 2.00am and Wasdale Mountain Rescue team turned out to bring him off the mountain.  The 'happy ending' continues as the Facebook "#findjasper" campaign has turned into a fundraiser and already thousands of pounds have been donated.  Daisy has had even more hugs this morning than usual.

Despite the crappy weather we celebrated this little miracle by going off to the beach. It was wet, windy and the tide was in, but Daisy seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself and did an unusual amount of running around.

I enjoyed the extremely indulgent hot chocolate when we got home ...

  1. Good news on the lost dog front! :-)

    That sea looks a bit hairy - I find the waves fascinating (being so far away from any of them!), but I'm not sure that I'd want to be as close as you were to them!

    1. Hazel, don't worry, I keep WELL AWAY from any chance of getting damp, and Daisy's not stupid either :}

      But you're right, we were at the beach exactly at high tide and those waves were a good 3 or 4 metres high as they broke.

  4. Did you see that Jasper has made p7 in the Telegraph today? They haven't had the update that he's been found, so it's a forlorn story at the moment. I do hope that they can find the space to print a follow up tomorrow.

    1. Jasper seems to have got everywhere, even on the main ITV news at teatime. If only every 'lost dog' story had such a happy ending.

      Daisy has had so many cuddles today she's completely fed up, but I can't help think how scared and miserable she would be out on a hill by herself. (Although Management pointed out he knew there was no way I'd come off a mountain without her and he'd be breaking all speed limits to get home from wherever he was working).

      Last time I looked the Facebook interest had generated £30K in donations.

  5. So glad Jasper and owner were reunited and all ends well. What a wonderful job the Mountain Rescue teams do and all volunteers too. Walking along the beach is very theraputic at times, even when the tide is in. We did a walk at Inverloch last week, but there was only a small amount of beach because the tide was in so we also walked over the rocks and peered into the rock pools. Take care.

  6. There's hot chocolate under all that whipped cream???? YUM.....

    So glad Jasper was found. Its heartbreaking when furbies are lost. And Rescue teams are true heroes, no matter where they are.

      well of course, what else could there be {giggle}

      I bet that poor dog slept heavily last night, as did those who turned out at 3.00am to go get him :}

    1. Absolutely Sue, and with the weather in that area at present (snow, rain, wind, cold) it could very easily not have ended this way.
