Confused

Clematis "Guernsey Cream".

It is growing in about the most exposed location you could find at Bag End - over the arbour in the Cottage Garden.

It is confused.

It is in flower:

  3. This is what it does, in my experience. I bought one from the bargain bin at the garden centre a few years ago, wrongly labelled group 3, it's actually group 2. If any growth survives the winter you might get a few flowers in May/June; otherwise it's November!
    I live in a chilly part of North Yorkshire and there were no flowers on mine at all this year, so last week I dug it up and chucked it.
    One for the southerners, I think.

    1. Hello gilsey, none of my clematis have started to die back yet and this one has already survived a couple of horrible winters. It was smothered in flowers earlier in the year.

    1. Late spring/early summer it was absolutely covered in huge creamy/green flowers which lasted for ages - I know I took pictures but I can't find them. The seed heads are beautiful too.

  5. Lucky you :-) I have this and it lives in a pot and flowers profusely every year ,,, just not in November!

    1. Hi Jill, if it is tough enough to survive in your area then that bodes well for us :}

  6. So much in the garden even here in Oz seems to have been confused over the last year and I just love that clematis. Take care and hope the weather has been better over the weekend.

    1. Interesting that your weather is up the creek Susan; Spring was late and bitterly cold here this year, wonder what winter will bring?
