Pity we haven't put the liner in ...

In the last 36 hours I've recorded 56mm of rain (2¼ inches or thereabouts).  Full fell-walking waterproofs were donned just to go shopping and turned out to be normal attire in Sainsbury's.  The wind has picked up now which is doing plants in full leaf no good at all and the Derwent has burst its banks.

Shame the big pond doesn't have a liner in yet:-

Tomorrow isn't going to be much better.

  1. I must say that it is nearly as bad here on the other side of the Pennines - our plants are really suffering. The only thing which seems to be enjoying it is the slugs.

    1. Morning WoG, I think you have had more wind than us - poor plants.

  2. It's been belting down on and off all day and as you say the poor plants are being battered flat. Wouldn't it have been great if you had lined the pond!

    1. Hi Sue, this has certainly made me think that when we come to line the Big Pond I won't worry about filling it, just leave nature to sort it out for me over the autumn.

  3. Oh, I would PAY for some of that weather. My plants are just panting in the heat.

    Yes, sorry about the liner. Too bad you fiddle your days away watching the telly and eating bonbons. No wonder you never get anything done. :-P

    1. HI DW, I was thinking the same thing - see post just published (Saturday morning). Work only began last month on the flood defences which are necessary. I guess Planners and Environment Agency decision-makers don't live in flood-prone areas :{

  5. We were thinking about you yesterday when we watched the weather forecast and saw your area of the map disappear under a big rain cloud. We've had a lot of rain too, it didn't stop at all yesterday, and it's still raining this morning. We haven't been checking to see how much, but nothing like you from the sound of it.
